Resume & CV
Julie McCracken
Scenic Artist | Educator | Craftsperson

My philosophy of art education is rooted in the belief that the classroom is a studio for both creative mastery and personal growth. Drawing from my background as a professional scenic artist and my studies in Visual Culture Art Education (VCAE), I strive to create a student-centered environment where making art is a gateway to critical thinking.
I believe that by investigating the visual world around them—from digital media to the physical environment—students learn to navigate their own identities and communities. My goal is to foster a space of 'structured freedom,' where technical skill-building (the 'how') supports a student’s unique expressive voice (the 'why'). Ultimately, I aim to empower students to see themselves not just as learners, but as capable creators who can shape the world they inhabit.
